West Australian Minerals Ltd | Company Profile

West Australian Minerals is a junior uranium exploration company whose primary development area is the Marenica-License (WME stake:80%) in the Damara Uranium province, northwest of Swakopmund in Namibia. It has been known since the 1970's that this region is rich with large quantities of uranium.
At that time, geologists contracted by Gold Fields of South Africa hit on promising mineralization, certainly foregoing a more comprehensive evaluation.
WME confirmed this for themselves 2 years ago in an uninhabitable region of more than 700 square kilometers (EPL 3287) that the old Gold Fields claim contained. The shape of the license territory chosen under consideration of certain optimization projections. The western peak was reached in this way by available public infrastructure like transport and electricity grid. The territory was then demarcated through Spitzkoppe, a protected natural area in the east and through Uramin/Areva's neighbouring Trekkopje Uranium project in the south.

The Marenica licensed territory
The current endeavours are very clearly focused on broadening the knowledge concerning the different regions in the Marenica license that contain uranium.
Over the course of several steps, the quantity of uranium from the most important section of the area has a current estimate of 34 million pounds (JORC-Standard,inferred,cut-off 80 ppm). The company aims to increase this estimate of uranium to 100 million pounds through further exploration at Marenica and possibly elsewhere in Namibia. Yet another anomaly in the easternmost section of Marenica containing uranium was discovered by measuring radon gas emisions. A more precise estimation will be confirmed at a later time. Furthermore due to the already promising analyses, layered alaskite used to exist in promisingly pregant dome structures, which hint at potential for primary uranium. Further drill samples will soon be carried out here which will confirm if it contains similar physical structures to, like for example, those that are available from Rio Tinto's nearby Rössing-region. In order to get more new insights concerning Marenica, 5000 further meters will be bored by the end of the year in 2008, as well as more to follow in 2009.
For the future, cooperative agreements with other businesses operating in the region will also play a significant role- the talks underway and include projects outside of Namibia.

Additional exploration areas
WMW owns four further exploration territories in Australia beside Marenica. With two of these regions, Dargo Goldfields and Badgebup Gold, the search for precious metals nearby are also coming to the fore. The Northampton Base Metal Project on the other hand, stands a possibility of finding lead, zinc, copper and silver. All three are in the early stage of development, and are currently the focal point for the business. The forth project in Australia, Scaddon Uranium, consists of two licenses and exhibits features that point at an interesting uranium anomaly. Because of this, a contract has already been signed to conduct a magnetic and radiometric inspection of the 300 square kilometer area by plane, which will soon provide results.
